Im Phillip Lawrence-Ricks. I have began my professional basketball career here in Galway, Ireland with the Moycullen Basketball Club. We playing in the Irish Premier League which is the top league here.
I arrived here Staurday morning at 6am. The flight was 6 hours long from New York City. Everything looked different here then in the USA while driving from the airport to my new home. Less big building, smaller cars, and more farms.
Suprisingly, I arrived at 6am and had a preseason game the same day. This was the start of something new. I immediately took a four hour nap and then woke myself up to prepare for my first professional game. Jet lag had hit me hard. I was still sleepy due to the 5 hour difference, still I went out and played. The first half I felt fine but then my legs began to feel really heavy and tight. I did alot of stretching, but my legs still felt like they were being weighed down. This was due to the jet lag.
There was a wierd feeling of being in a new country. Just wasnt the same as being in the US. Its my 3rd day here and im starting to feel more comfortable now and get accustomed to things. As I try and fix my sleep and eating schedule to beat jet lag, to become “normal” again.
