Top 5 Euroleague players that could make it to NBA!
Konstantinos Panas numbers five players out of Euroleague that could make it to the NBA.
For many NBA it’s the most exciting league in the world. For me, though Euroleague it’s more surprising and I love it even more due to the great tactical systems and the aggressive defense we play. Although NBA it’s a dream come true for all professional athletes.
Let’s check out some cases.
- Nicolo Melli (2.05, 1991, Italy)
The path to greatness has many obstacles but the Italian forward/center never really cared. You usually find him in the gym working hard. He started his career as a point guard, then became a forward and now he is considered as one of the best big men in Europe. You see Melli is not just a regular player. His value was questioned when he was in Armani, and his case reminds of Giorgos Printezis. The summer he got transferred back to Olympiacos he worked so hard that he became one of the best forwards in Europe. Same with Melli when he transferred in Bamberg. His game did not only transformed to the next level but made the biggest impact on his team success the past few years. Standing in 6’9’’ Nicolo Melli could be an athletic, stretch Power Forward in the NBA, plus he has very great length, he is quite athletic, he can drive to the basket, and mostly he is a great defender. I forgot he could pass like a playmaker. Amazing feel for the game.
- Bradley Wannamaker(1.93, 1989, US)
The guard out of Pennsylvania is just one great discovery from Andrea Trinchieri in Bamberg. This year we found him in Turkey. He had an excellent year in Euroleague. He is considered as one of the best point guards in the league. Truly athletic, raised his numbers from the perimeter, he can drive, he is extremely aggressive on D, and of course his court vision and playmaking make him a “beast.” How he managed to become a top class point guard from being a facilitator, I guess the definition of hard work has his name next to it.
- Milos Teodosic (1.95, 1987, Serbia)
Is not a secret that he is close to signing a multiyear contract in the NBA. Milos for many considered as the best playmaker in the league. His court vision is at another level, and the way he can pass the ball is out of this planet. Is not how he imagines it, is how he does it! Everybody dreams it, but Teodosic makes it happen! His defense is questionable. He is an average athlete. But he managed to survive in this league due to his technique and extremely high IQ. In modest basketball where the most important thing is athleticism, Milos did not only survive but became a Euroleague champion! He is basketball virtuoso that belongs to another time where the game needed just skills and feel for the game. The only player that can be compares with Sarunas Jasikevicius.
2.Sergio Llull (1.90, 1987, Spain)
For Euroleague fans; Sergio is a Steph Curry alike point guard that made had a solid season and already in discussions to play in the NBA. Sergi Rodriguez left Real Madrid, and Llull had to step up. But not only he did step up, but he managed to be this year’s ultimate scorer. The word clutch defines him extremely well. Just check out one of his last second shots to realize what he achieved this year. He is the quickest point guard in the league with the ball in his hands. His playmaking skills rank him in top-5 point guards, and of course, he is a great defender on the ball. True leader!
1.Luka Doncic (2.01, 1999, Slovenia)
School in the morning; Euroleague at nights. That could be a title for the Slovenian point guard of Real Madrid. His legend started to rise this year where his phenomenal plays classified him as the best prospect in Euroleague for the past twenty years. I have never seen a player like him ever before. It’s not only his length. It’s everything. There were many 6’7’’ point guards in the league(Milenko Tepic, Theodoris Papaloukas, Antoine Riguadeau). They all had a good frame; long hands; great playmakers. But as Felipe Reyes said “I ‘ve seen many tall point guards, but never that athletic as well’’. His athleticism is already at the professional level, and he could be a pick-n-roll maestro. Great defender on and off the ball. Already a great perimeter shooter. Very nice technique. Most important is his clutch plays. Already won games for Real Madrid in Euroleague at age 17! It seems unreal, but Luka Doncic can become a true legend if he is healthy.
